BANGOR City manager Nev Powell will re-trace familiar steps to former club Connah’s Quay Nomads in tonight’s Loosemores’ Cup Group Two encounter for the first time since switching loyalties.

Powell said: “Having spent 14 years at Nomads, I am obviously looking forward to going back there because I made lots of friends at the club and will be delighted to meet them again.”

City will involve five ex-Connah’s Quay players in their squad as well for tonight’s game.

Team captain Marc Limbert, goalkeeper Paul Smith, Dave Swanick, Craig Hutchinson and Tommy Mutton are all included.

Powell intends to use the occasion to feature some players who have not been fully engaged in Welsh Premier action so far – notably left-winger Sion Edwards, who is expected to start.

Fitness checks will be made on midfielders Gareth Parry and Kieran Killackey, whose injuries kept them out of Friday’s 1-0 defeat at Airbus UK.
