A NESTON woman has been fined and banned from driving for 20 months after she was found to be over the legal limit.

Lesley Byrne, 55, drank half a bottle of rose wine before getting into her silver Peugeot on June 20 this year.

She was driving along her own street, Chester High Road in Neston, when she was pulled over and found to have 81mg of alcohol in 100mm of breath in her system, compared to the legal limit of 35mg.

Mrs Byrne, who has no previous convictions, appeared in front of Chester magistrates on Friday and expressed remorse for her actions, saying she ‘just wanted an end to this horrible thing’.

She was ordered to pay £210 to the court and was banned from driving for 20 months, with the option of taking a drink-driving course which would reduce her ban to 15 months.
