MORE than 150 Nestonians visited Neston Town Council’s planning consultation day at the town hall on Friday.

Neston is one of the first communities to be selected to produce a Neighbourhood Plan under the Government’s new national planning policy framework.

Instead of all aspects of local planning being decided in Chester, Neston is able to draw up its own detailed neighbourhood plan within the Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWaC) overall plan.

After viewing information displays on Friday, residents were asked where future housing development should take place and how they saw shopping facilities changing.

Most visitors also took the opportunity to comment on services provided by Cheshire West and Chester Council, with their views being passed on to local CWaC councillors.

The town council’s next steps are a follow-up meeting for the 50 local people who have volunteered to move the plan forward as part of community task groups, and a more detailed questionnaire based on Friday’s results will be available online and at the Neston Village Fair on July 7.
