A COMMUNITY centre has launched a competition asking people to come up with an exciting new name for the facility.

It’s been a year since the £1m Neston Community and Youth Centre opened on Burton Road.

In that time a wide range of regular courses and events have been organised, such as a youth club held three times a week and adult courses in subjects including art, flower arranging, languages, belly dancing and computing.

Chairman Peter Weston said: “We feel that Neston Community and Youth Centre is rather a long title and we’re looking for something snappier that reflects the wide range of activities that take place at the centre.

“The centre has been part of life in Neston for a year now and we would like to give it a name that fits its position in our community.”

The winner of the competition will receive a £100 cash prize and the runner-up will get a MP4 player courtesy of Aldi supermarket.

There is also a selection of other prizes up for grabs, including free room hire at the centre for a child’s birthday party.

The competition is open to all ages and the closing date for entries is Friday, April 30.

There is no limit to the number of entries people send in. The judging panel’s decision is final.

If you have an idea for a new name get in touch with Helen Barrie at the centre by emailing admin@nestoncyc.co.uk.

Alternatively you can drop your entry off at the centre in person.

Entries must have ‘Competition Entry - Confidential’ clearly marked on the envelope.

It must also include a name, address, phone number and/or an email address.
