THE Mail has once again joined forces with ScottishPower to host Your Champions 2005, in which we pay tribute to those who make a difference in our area.
Your Champions has been highlighting the good work of individuals and groups since 1988 and we want you to tell us who should be honoured this year at a ceremony at the Grosvenor Hotel in Chester on Friday, November 25.
All of us know people in the community whose voluntary work goes beyond that expected - and you will agree their good work needs bringing to the attention of a wider audience.
They could be people who look after the sick, who are environmentally friendly or young people going out and doing great, unsung work.
We want to know about them - and this is where you can call the tune.
We want you to nominate them and watch as winners emerge from a panel made up of knowledgeable local VIPs.
Area winners will go forward to a final judging session and all the category winners will receive their awards on November 25.
All you have to do to nominate an individual or group of people is complete our nomination form and send it to our office or log on to www. iccheshireonline.co.uk/yourchampions.
This year we are introducing a £5,000 Charitable Grants programme.
Charities who make a nomination can also apply for a £250 grant.
The categories are:
CHAMPION OF THE YEAR: The person who is making the most significant contribution to the community.
CHAMPION SCHOOL OF THE YEAR: Pupils who are making a difference in their neighbourhood.
CHAMPION TEAM OF THE YEAR: Any kind of group which is making a contribution to the community.
SPORTING CHAMPION OF THE YEAR: Either an individual or a team that has excelled in their community.
YOUNG CHAMPION OF THE YEAR: Someone aged 19 or under by the end of this year who has succeeded in making a big contribution to the community.
