POLICE last night launched a murder investigation after a 32-year-old woman was found dead at a house in Warrington.

Officers were called to an address in the Latchford area shortly after 1pm, where they found the woman and a 62-year-old man with head and arm injuries.

The man was last night being treated at Warrington District Hospital.

Doctors said his condition was described as "serious but stable."

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "We are making inquiries to establish the cause of death, and a post-mortem examination has not yet taken place.

"We are treating the death as suspicious and have launched a murder investigation.

"Police, however, are not actively seeking any suspects at this time.

"As all the next of kin have not yet been informed, we are not in a position to name the deceased.

"We have not yet been informed as to when the post-mortem examination will take place."
