CHESHIRE Constabulary is asking drivers to co-operate with road restrictions and diversions during the five-day RHS Show at Tatton Park.

More than 100,000 people are expected to visit the show, which finishes on Sunday, and officers say some traffic congestion is inevitable.

Derek Griffiths, Cheshire police eastern area events officer, said: “The safety of people visiting the show and of other people using roads in the area is obviously the first consideration.

“We also aim to keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible and the co-operation of drivers is an essential factor in that.

“Anyone who has a journey to make through the Knuts- ford area during the show days may like to think about the route they are taking, and the timing of the journey.”

An added problem this year is that visitors will be affected by the closure of the westbound exit at junction 7 of the M56 because of investigation work being carried out on a bridge over the motorway.

The signposted diversion route takes drivers to Junction 10 of the M56 near Northwich.

While the traffic restrictions may cause some inconvenience, motorists are asked to be patient.
