A MOTORIST has been seriously injured in a collision between two cars and a petrol tanker which happened near Ellesmere Port today (Friday).

The 58-year-old man was trapped in his car following the collision between his Peugeot, a Renault Megane and the tanker.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service were called to the scene on School Lane at 2.51pm.

The motorist had to be cut free from his vehicle by firefighters, while paramedics noted he was conscious but had shallow breathing.

A air ambulance was dispatched and the man was taken by air to Wythenshawe Hospital with chest, head and pelvis injuries and pain in his left arm.

Another motorist, believed to be the driver of the Renault Megane, received minor injuries and was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital by ambulance.
