A MAN died and an elderly woman was left seriously injured in two car crashes in Cheshire on Saturday.

In the first incident a 64-year-old man was killed when his car crashed into a road sign on Beech Lane in Cotebrook, Tarporley, at 9am.

In the second incident an 87-year-old woman from Knutsford was injured following a three-car accident in Telford Road, Ollerton, near New Barn Farm at 10.40am.

The woman suffered neck injuries when the Renault Clio she was driving collided with a Volkswagen Polo in front of her. The Clio then crashed into a Toyota Corolla.

A 46-year-old man from Warrington and a 44-year-old woman from Ormskirk, along with a 69-year-old woman who was in the Clio, were treated at Macclesfield hospital.
