THE River Weaver at Anderton was the venue for round six of the club’s Monday evening series and the runaway winner on the night was Ian Morrison. Drawn on peg 58, Ian fished maggot and worm on the pole at five metres to take seven bream and a few roach to weigh in 20-11-0.
A distant second was Bob Foster, on peg 38, with 7-0-0 of roach, skimmers and a bream, all caught on red maggot at eight metres. The third slot went to Calvin Tagg on peg 40 with 6-10-0.
The current leader with three matches left in the nine-match series is Ian Morrison with 105 points. Arthur Kenney is second with 91 and Chris Parry is third with 89 points.
The club’s veterans were on the Top and Middle Cisterns on Wednesday morning for the second match in their series for the E & H Cross Trophy.
Bob Griffiths headed the field with 6-14-0 of the Middle Cistern’s rudd, all caught up water at four metres on maggot. Second was Barry Holdbrook on the Top Cistern with another rudd bag of 6-3-0.
The frame was completed by Arthur Kenney on the Middle Cistern with 4-2-0.
With one match to go, the overall points leader is Arthur Kenney with 36 with John Dudley, Peter Knight and Stan Butterworth sharing second with 33 points apiece.
