MORE than 25,000 people descended on Cholmondeley Castle for DJ Chris Evans’s eagerly anticipated charity festival CarFest North.

The two-day extravaganza – held in the picturesque castle grounds last weekend – featured an array of modern and classic supercars, top music performers and a feast of culinary delights.

Texas, Razorlight, The Proclaimers, Paloma Faith and The Magic Numbers all took to the stage for the family-friendly festival in aid of Children in Need.

Both CarFest North and Car Fest South, which was held in Hampshire over the August Bank Holiday weekend, is expected to have raised more than £800,000 for the charity.

BBC Radio 2 DJ and television personality Chris Evans said: “CarFest North and South have been a dream team of food, music, cars and fun. The jackpot has been the family atmosphere dictated by the children themselves.”

Lord Cholmondeley added: “It was both an honour and a delight for us to host CarFest North on behalf of Chris Evans here at Cholmondeley Castle.”
