Haverfordwest 0 Rhyl 1

ANDY MORAN'S 48th minute penalty secured Rhyl their first win in five matches and put their title quest back on on the rails.

The Lilywhites dominated the majority of a game at Bridge Meadow in which they struck the woodwork no less than five times.

Top scorer Lee Hunt was a constant danger in the first half, forcing a desperate save from Lee Kendall before heading a Chris Roberts cross against the bar. Just before the break he was brought down in the area by Ryan Durham, but Moran fired the resultant penalty against the post.

Soon after the restart Mark Connolly broke up an attack from the home side and fed Moran, who in turn set up Hunt whose powerful effort rattled the woodwork.

From the rebound, however, Moran was felled by Durham again and once more referee Maldwyn Williams pointed to the spot. This time Moran made no mistake, driving his shot under Kendall for his 13th goal of the campaign.

The visitors were well on top as Moran and Hunt struck timber once more and skipper George Horan had an attempt saved. Moran then put in a pinpoint cross for Hunt who headed wide.

In a rare County attack, Jody Jenkins looked set to score, but was robbed by a perfectly timed inteception from Connolly.

The hosts looked unlucky not to win a penalty when Jenkins was brought down, but the referee ruled the offence took place outside the box.

The prominent Moran had a header cleared off the line and with two minutes left he was victim of a two-footed tackle from Simon Heal, who received a red card.
