PUPILS have handed over a time capsule to building contractor mascot Mole 'm' the Mole on the site of their new school.

Penygelli School held a lottery to decide which pupils would become the first to set

foot on the new site. They took along a time capsule full of artefacts and pupil's work that will be built into its structure.

From the infants school there was Seren Warklate, four, Callum Jones, five and Rhys Jones, six. The juniors selected were eight-year-olds Lauren Davies and Melissa Roberts plus Jordan McKenzie, nine, Nathan Williams, 10 and April Howell, 11. They handed the capsule to Mole 'm', the mascot of the Mowlem contractors who are working on the building.

Headteacher Stephen Lewis said: 'The school is coming along well and everyone is really excited.

'The final year students won't be here to see the new school but one day they can go and see how their old school has improved.'

Penygelli school is due to be completed around Easter.
