HARTFORD-based Helena Dennett won one title and missed out on three more, at the Cheshire Close Table Tennis Championships, at the Halton Stadium, Widnes.

Dennett’s success came in the Over 40s singles when she beat Wirral’s Ann Dakin (10, 9, -10, 11).

But she was a beaten finalist in the Singles, Restricted Singles and, with Karen Tonge of Halton, in the Doubles, twice losing to Annabelle Sorrentino (Wirral) and to Annebelle partnerd by her sister Susi.

Mid Cheshire League’s James Eaton was beaten in the Grade A Singles final by John Goodall, of the Wirral League (5, 10, -9, 8).

Exciting Mid Cheshire prospect Joshua Boulton won the Boys’ Singles, Cadet Singles and, with Rachel Baker, the Mixed Doubles at the Junior Championship. Corrina Bebbington (Mid Cheshire) was beaten 6, 8 and 7 by Rachel Baker in her Singles final.

Joshua also reached the Restricted Singles final, losing to Matthew McCormick (Halton), but won the senior Grade B trophy by beating Thomasz Hullisha (Ellesmere Port) -4, 3, 10 and 10.
