A CRACK team of military musicians is marching into to Ellesmere Port Civic Hall early next month.

The Band of the King’s Division will play a concert in aid of the Army Benevolent Fund’s Chester and Wirral Appeal Committee Wednesday, September 10, from 7.30-9.30pm.

The charity supports serving and former soldiers, both regular and territorials, and their families who are in real and immediate financial need, which is increasing as a result of Army commitments in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The charity has to raise £5.5m a year, so concerts like the one at the Civic Hall are vital.

The Band of the King’s Division is one of the Army’s newest, having been formed only in May 2006 as a result of restructuring.

It is an amalgamation of the former Normandy and Waterloo King’s Division Bands and is based in Preston.

It comprises 35 members who have all undergone musical traing at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall.

Tickets for the concert are £5 and will be available at the door on the night.
