AN ELLESMERE PORT football club is looking for past players and supporters to help celebrate a milestone anniversary.

This year marks 30 years of the Princes Villa football club and, to mark the occasion, an event reuniting people who have been involved with the club over the years, will be held at Whitby Sports and Social Club on Saturday, October 13.

And all proceeds raised from the event will go to local charities Miles of Smiles and the Hospice of the Good Shepherd in Backford.

The club, which began back in 1982, started out as an under-12s team, before entering into the Ellesmere Port Junior League.

Since then it has had more than 16 teams participating in various leagues throughout the borough.

Players have gone on to train at professional clubs, and the club has more than 25 coaches who hold FA coaching badges.

Chairman Steve Burgess said the club has made a ‘monumental achievement’ and the reunion was to celebrate that.

He said: “We are all immensely proud of our achievement over 30 years and we hope as many people as possible will help us celebrate this.

“The reunion will be an opportunity to meet up with ex-teammates and also to take a walk down memory lane with old scrapbooks, photos and some videos of old matches.

“It’s open to past and present players, managers, assistants and volunteers, as many as possible.”
