A WHARTON Primary School pupil has been confirmed as the case of swine flu in Winsford.

The youngster has been withdrawn from the school, and is currently being treated at home. But the school will not be closing, said a Cheshire West and Chester Council spokesman.

The case was revealed at a meeting of Winsford headteachers on Tuesday night. A suspected bout of the H1N1 virus has also been reported at Willow Wood Primary School on Bradbury Road.

Dan Thomas, assistant head at Verdin and Woodford Lodge high schools said today, Thursday, there have been no confirmed bouts of the disease at either site.

Handley Hill, High Street, Over St John’s and St Chad’s primary schools, and Hebden Green special school, all said this afternoon they have a clean bill of health.
