MID-CHESHIRE College graduates Rachelle Carter-Shepherd and Thomas Hough are to travel the world after landing their dream jobs.

Beauty student Rachelle, 18, has cruised into her new career with Steiner luxury liners, while Thomas, also 18, is flying high after becoming an air steward with Ryanair.

Rachelle was offered the job of beauty therapist with leisure giant Steiner after being put through her paces at a day-long interview in Leeds.

Eighty people were shortlisted, but Rachelle was one of the 12 chosen – and the youngest recruit.

She said: “I was very nervous during the interviews, I had to make a presentation and perform a two- hour practical demonstration. I am so excited to have been offered the job.

“I am so grateful for the excellent teaching, facilities and work experience I have had.”

After three months of training in London, Rachelle will cruise the world as an on-board beautician.

Thomas, from Moulton, took a two-year national diploma in Travel and Tourism at Mid-Cheshire College’s Hartford campus.

“I always knew I wanted to fly from a very young age,” he said. “The college offered the exact course for me. I really enjoyed the customer service and airline cabin crew section of the course, which certainly helped at the interview.”

His tutor Lorna McKenzie said: “Thomas is absolutely made for this job. His enthusiasm has been evident throughout the course.”

Thomas will complete a five-week training course at Stansted before flying off to Spain or Italy to become a fully fledged flight attendant.
