FRIENDS and neighbours of Craig Jones, as well as sports fans across Mid Cheshire, have their chance on Saturday to pay their respects to the race ace who died after a crash at Brands Hatch.

A memorial service is to be conducted at Northwich Parish Church at noon and all are welcome, say Craig’s parents Steve and Yvonne Jones.

Craig, 23, died on August 4. The former Hartford High School pupil was from Marshall Lane, Greenbank, but recently lived at Peterborough where his funeral took place last week.

He was rated as one British motorcycle racing’s hottest prospects and was competing in the World Supersport Championships when he came off his bike and died in a London Hospital after never regaining consciousness.

Craig lived with his girlfriend Karen Atkins, 33, and the couple were expected to marry.

Dad Steve said: “We have received more than 400 condolence cards from all over the world, as well as bouquets, sprays, and plants.”
