A BINGO hall in Ellesmere Port has already raised more than £1,700 for charity this year – exceeding the club’s fundraising target for year by £200 just six months in.

Team members and customers at the club have been raising money to support Mecca’s chosen charity for this year, Marie Curie Cancer Care, and raised the required amount in just six months.

Events have included bring and buy book sales, a cabaret and a Blooming Great Tea Party with team members and customers at the club.

The money raised will allow Marie Curie nurses to provide more free care at home to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses.

Mecca Ellesmere Port general manager Gary Shanks said: “Our success is a credit to the hard working team members and the generosity of our customers. Everyone has dug deep to ensure all our fundraising events have been a success and we can thank them enough.”

Charlotte Sewell, community fundraiser for Marie Curie Cancer Care, said: “It’s the support from organisations like Mecca that allow our charity to continue with the work we do.

“Team members and customers at the club should be proud of their efforts so far in already reaching the year’s fundraising target set for them in only six months.”
