FORMER Wrexham manager and player Dixie McNeil has been appointed the new boss of Welsh Premier strugglers Newi Cefn Druids.
McNeil, a prolific striker at the Racecourse where he later became boss, has been handed the task of trying to revive fortunes at the Plaskynaston side, who currently lie in 15th position.
He will be assisted in his role by club director Graham Jones.
The new management team was unveiled to players at last night's training session as they prepare for a vital festive period with back-to-back games against fellow strugglers Airbus UK.
McNeil has experience of the Welsh Premier, having been manager of Flint Town United from April 1994-March 1995.
And the Druids will be hoping the experienced campaigner can keep the club clear of relegation danger, which became an increasing possibility following last Saturday's 7-0 drubbing at Caersws.
McNeil will replace former Tranmere midfielder Alan Morgan, who resigned last weekend following a run of 12 league games without a win in his first season as manager.
The Druids now languish just two points clear of the relegation zone while they have not won since defeating Welshpool Town back on September 10.
