Newtown 1 Airbus UK 1
JAMES MCINTOSH'S late strike rescued a valuable point for Airbus in a relegation showdown at Latham Park.
The two sides had gone into the game level-pegging, with the Wingmakers hovering second from bottom and Newtown, having suffered six straight defeats, just one place above.
With little between them on the pitch, it looked like the home side would collect a crucial win when defender Brian Showdery turned to volley home following a free-kick from the impressive Kevin Scott on the hour mark.
But Airbus clawed their way back in the 84th minute when McIntosh fired past keeper Jon Rowley to edge his team clear of the drop zone.
Both sides had their chances to have claimed a crucial win, with Newtown's Scott a regular threat with his long throw-ins and free kicks.
Airbus had their moments, Darren Williams seeing a goalbound header tipped onto the bar by Rowley.
James Hussaney spurned a golden chance on 72 minutes when a mistake by keeper Rowley saw the forward put a weak shot wide of an unguarded goal.
Late on, Wingmakers defender Mark Allen spurned a golden chance when his close-range header sailed wide.
