SATURDAY'S rather boring draw with Posh filled me with more hope than some of the cracking wins we've had this season.

The simple reason for that was we played badly but still got a point - last season when we went behind like that we certainly would have gone on to lose the game.

Despite having an appalling away record we are still very much in touch with the promotion pack.

Considering the injuries we've had to endure, that's a tremendous effort.

Another plus point for me was the performance of Lee McEvilly.

Hopefully "Evil" sees this as his second and perhaps last chance of league football and is desperate to make it work.

He's certainly looked hungry enough (nothing intended by that Lee) and you can see why Denis was so keen to get him.

He's immensely strong, up for the fight, shoots on sight and enjoys running at people. Rather like another Scouse striker we brought in from non-league - before he became everyone's favourite player outside the Premiership (other than ours).

With hard-working Jon Walters seemingly the perfect foil, let's hope the pair can trouble League Two defences and open space for Mark Jones to exploit.

With the Christmas period crucial to our hopes, it's good to see players coming back from injury like young Shaun Pejic and Jim Whitley.

There's just over a month to go until the biggest game in the world ever. Let's hope we're injury free and in-form when we visit the old enemy.
