TWO Winsford councillors are celebrating a century of wedded bliss between them – and it’s been a Labour of love in more ways than one.

Former mayor Cllr Flo Hughes and her husband Jim, an exWinsford town councillor, marked 50 years of marriage on Saturday, April 4.

And on the same day mayor-elect and Labour colleague Cllr Nick Harris and his wife Myra were also celebrating their golden wedding! The couple were unavailable for a photograph.

Cllr Hughes, who lives at Carlisle Close and represents Wharton, was born in Liverpool and moved to Winsford in the early 70s.

She has been on the town council for 12 years and represented Vale Royal Borough Council for a decade.

She remains on the board of governors at Over Hall Primary School and she and husband Jim have five daughters.

Cllr Harris has lived in Winsford all his life and will begin his fourth spell as town mayor next month. He has been on the town council for a quarter of a century.

A keen member of Mid-Cheshire Camera Club, he was a retained firefighter for 34 years and worked for the ambulance service for 35 years.
