A CARE home owner in Wrexham has been appointed to the National Partnership Forum for Older People.
The forum was set up to advise the Welsh Assembly on its strategy for older people in Wales.
Mario Kreft, chairman of the North Wales Care Homes Association and owner of Pendine Park nursing home, was invited to serve on the forum by Jane Hutt, Minister for Health and Social Services.
The forum was launched in January 2003 to provide informed advice to the Welsh Assembly on the development of its policies for older people, a focus for debate at all levels of government and an effective channel of communication between older people and their representatives.
Mr Kreft is also chief executive at Care Forum Wales, a membership organisation for private sector care homes in Wales, which has nearly 600 members and represents more than 18,000 people across Wales.
He said: 'I am honoured to have been appointed to this forum by the Welsh Assembly Government.
'I am committed to driving up standards and promoting best practice in the care sector and hope my experience with Care Forum Wales and dedication will add to the valuable work the National Partnership Forum of Older People is doing.'
