RUNNERS will undertake the jog of their lives in a bid to raise vital funds for Hinderton School in Ellesmere Port.

Twelve runners are now in intensive training for the Virgin London Marathon on April 22, aiming to each raise £1,500.

The Chester Lions Club, which secures and donates Gold Bond marathon charity places for organisations, decided to offer this year’s places to the schools’ runners.

The funds will go towards a new ball pool at Hinderton School, Ellesmere Port and adapted bikes at Dee Banks School in Chester.

Both schools are supporting the runners by organising a series of fundraising events including bag packs and raffles, and are now looking to supporters to help.

Hinderton headteacher Liam Dowling said: “We are extremely grateful to our seven runners for offering to run the London Marathon in our name and helping us raise funds for our new ball pool.

“We would like to appeal to parents, friends and supporters to sponsor a runner, and to circulate news of the appeal and our upcoming supporting events as widely as possible.

“Sponsorship can be donated directly via the Virgin Money website or by visiting our school website.”

Chester Lions Club president Derek Dix said: “After speaking with the two schools we decided to help them to achieve their aims for both the ball pool and the specially adapted bikes by donating the 12 places to them.”

The runners for Hinderton School are Simon C Jones, Simon J Jones, Richard Heyes, Richard Daymond, Marcus Germany, Craig Forsyth and Nick Clark.
