A MIDDLE aged man is recovering in hospital after a train ran over him at a Wirral station.

The New Brighton to Liverpool train was travelling at just 15mph when it went over the man as it entered Wallasey Grove Road station.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said the train was brought to an immediate halt when the driver realised what had happened.

But amazingly the man was able to climb from under the train and climb on to the platform without any help. He was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital where he was later found to have a broken pelvis and cuts and bruises.

Witnesses to the incident, at 11.55am on Saturday are asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 405040.
