POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered a broken cheekbone in a vicious assault in an Ellesmere Port street.
The 30-year-old victim was walking home between 1.30am and 2am on Sunday, after a night out at Destiny and Elite nightclub, Cheshire Oaks.
He was on his phone as he walked along Stanney Lane, opposite Stanney High School, when he was punched in the head from behind, knocking him to the ground.
DC Keith Campbell said: "The victim is awaiting surgery for the injury he suffered from this attack and I am keen to speak to anyone that may have any information about who is responsible.”
