AN ASSAULT at an Ellesmere Port nightclub left the victim with a serious brain injury, a court heard.
The 20-year-old from Runcorn was punched in Destiny and Elite on December 19 last year.
The victim had been taken to the Countess of Chester hospital talking and with few visible signs of injury after being punched once and hitting the floor inside the club.
His attacker, 21-year-old Ashley David Antcliff, of Foxdene, Little Sutton, appeared in Chester Crown Court on Monday.
Dressed in a black suit with white shirt and black tie, he spoke only to confirm his name and to plead guilty to a charge of actual bodily harm.
Peter Hussey, prosecuting, said the victim was likely to suffer permanent damage as a result of the assault, which he said caused a fist-sized ‘hole’ to the side of his face, and left a deep wound to Antcliff’s knuckle which was probably caused by one of the victim’s teeth.
The victim also received an injury to the back of his head when he fell to the floor.
Antcliff was granted bail and will be sentenced at Chester Crown Court on May 20.
