THE 25-year-old man who died after a forklift truck fell on him at a glass recycling plant has now been named.

Ian Aliski, of Ellesmere Port, died following the incident at Recresco LTD in North Road at around 10am on Monday.

Cheshire police are currently investigating the incident.

The company has confirmed it was the man’s first day on the job.

He is believed to have been working for the company through a local agency.

A spokeswoman for the firm said: “We offer our sympathy and condolences to the family.

“Recresco will be offering a full statement when they are in possession of the facts.”

She said staff at the Ellesmere Port plant were shocked following the death of their colleague.

Cheshire police, ambulances and fire engines raced to the recycling centre yesterday after the accident and the centre was closed, with lorries containing waste glass queuing up outside while the factory remained sealed off.

The Health and Safety Executive has also been brought in to investigate the incident, although a spokesman said Cheshire police were leading the inquiry.
