VALE Royal Borough Council has prosecuted a Winsford man for dumping waste over the wall of his property.
Terrance Snape, of Beckenham Grove, was found guilty of a “duty of care” offence at Vale Royal Magistrates Court on Friday, October 10 and fined a total of £460.
Snape, 44, committed the offence on May 9. He was prosecuted under Section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
Lead councillor for environmental management, Cllr Lynn Riley, said: “This is the first time we have used this legislation to bring a prosecution and it sends a clear message to those who do not take responsibility for their waste.
“It shows our commitment to tackling all types of environmental crime – whether it is fly-tipped waste or waste transferred from people’s homes by unauthorised person and dumped.”
