A 25-YEAR-OLD man has appeared in court charged with attempting to steal from a church and breaking stained-glass windows.

James Lee Stout, of Cressington Gardens in Ellesmere Port, allegedly broke into St Saviours Church on December 16 last year.

The 25-year-old appeared before Chester Magistrates Court on Friday, January 18, and pleaded not guilty to trespassing with intent to steal and damaging three glass windows at the church.

Stout has been bailed and is due to appear back before Chester Magistrates on February 4 for trial.
