CHESHIRE Police is appealing for witnesses after a man was left with serious facial injuries following a vicious gang attack in Great Sutton.

The 27-year-old victim, who was walking along Overpool Road, was assaulted at 11.15pm on Friday.

He was struck to the back of the head and then kicked causing him to fall to the ground.

While on the ground the victim was repeatedly kicked to the head and upper body before the attackers stole his mobile phone, bank card and £20.

The offenders also removed his trainers before fleeing.

The victim was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital where he required stitches to his face and head.

He was also treated for bruising to his ribs and arms before being discharged.

The victim’s trainers and bank card were recovered by police in a nearby park but his Samsung Genioe mobile phone, which is black with a yellow protective cover, has not been found.

He has been unable to provide a comprehensive description of the attackers, but police believe there was up to six males, aged around 16-18, who were possibly wearing light-coloured T-shirts and shorts.

Cheshire Police spokeswoman Jacqui Hanson said: “Did you witness the attack itself? Or did you see a group of up to six teenagers prior to the attack occurring or following the attack as they left the scene?

“Did you see the trainers and bank card abandoned in the park nearby? Or do you have information which could identify the group of males?

“If you can assist with any of these appeals please contact the officer leading the investigation, Detective Constable Stuart Thomas at Ellesmere Port CID on 0845 458 0000.”
