THE trial of a Northwich man accused of killing a teenager in a drugs feud will begin next week.
Ian Broughton, 28, of Priory Street, has been in custody since being charged with murder on Wednesday, June 4 – just over a week after Rhys Butler, from Speke, Liverpool, was found dead in a flat at Peckforton Way, Castle.
Police said the 17-year-old had been the victim of a “very physical assault”.
Broughton, a former Witton Church Walk Primary and Rudheath High pupil, was one of five people arrested in connection with his death, but the only one subsequently charged.
His trial at Chester Crown Court, which is scheduled to last eight days, will get under way on Wednesday, January 14.
