BEAUTY students brushed up on their skills with a lesson by Hollyoaks make-up artist Hannah Faulkner.
Hannah, 30, took time to visit youngsters at West Cheshire College’s Ellesmere Port campus where she gave a lesson in the art of special effects, along with top tips on how to get ahead in the industry.
Currently working as a freelance make-up artist, Hannah trained as a professional make-up artist at London’s Greasepaint Make-up Studio.
She transformed the looks of celebrities in pop videos and TV commercials, as well as top models at Alexander McQueen fashion shows.
Speaking about her experience, Hannah said: “It is an honour to be able to share with students my experience of working in the industry.
“The make-up industry can be quite competitive to get into, but with perseverance and a good portfolio, it makes for a fantastic career.
“The best bit about my job is meeting a variety of people from all walks of life and knowing you have played a part in the success of a project or production.”
Kerry Martinez, assistant manager in hairdressing and beauty therapy at the college, said: “We were delighted to invite Hannah in to meet with students.
“She showed them how to master a range of special effects such as bruises, along with tricks of the trade.
“The lesson provided great inspiration for the students, showing them what they can achieve in their career and the importance of getting work experience and building up a good portfolio.”
