Magistrates court lists directive for staff

MAGISTRATES court staff have been told to make all court lists available to newspapers free of charge via email.

Justice Secretary Jack Straw says charging for the court lists should end. Earlier this month court officials received fresh guidance from HM’s Courts Service saying that court registers and court lists should be provided by email whenever possible.

The guidance states: “Assisting newspapers to report what is happening in their local courts is important for increasing confidence in the criminal justice system.”
