TWO all-time greats of British sport are coming to North East Wales.

Property developers the Eatonfield Group of Companies, based in Flintshire, and Allied Irish Bank (UK) have agreed to pay the fees of Wales and British Lions rugby legend Phil Bennett and Britain's famous heavyweight boxing champion, Sir Henry Cooper OBE Ksg, to act as guest speakers at a fundraising luncheon.

The event has been organised by 17-year-old Jason Lloyd, son of Eatonfield MD Rob Lloyd. It will take place at the Amantola Restaurant, Queensferry, on Tuesday, March 22.

Jason is one of 14 pupils who have been selected by his school, Gordonstoun in Scotland, to take part in a three-week exercise to help restore the historic mountain gardens belonging to the ancient Monastery of St Catherine's in Egypt.

Jason explained: 'Although there will be no accommodation costs, as we will be sleeping under the stars most nights, the expedition will still cost £2,000 per person and each of us has been set the task of raising this amount ourselves.

'As my home is in North Wales, I decided I wanted to do something here to help raise this money and I am now inviting companies, organisations and groups of friends to purchase a table or a number of seats at a table for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to listen to these two very entertaining after-dinner speakers.'

Tickets cost £35 each, which also includes a sumptuous meal, or a table for 10 can be reserved at a cost of £350. Further information can be obtained and bookings made by contacting the Eatonfield head office in Holywell on 01352 715190.

'This is also an ideal corporate entertainment or staff reward opportunity and a chance to help a very worthy cause at the same time,' added Jason.
