LORD Lieutenant of Cheshire David Briggs showed his support for children’s hospice Claire House when he paid a visit there.
The former High Sheriff of Cheshire will be the charity’s special guest at a black-tie Manhattan-themed ball at Chester Racecourse on October 7, which is partly organised by Peter Hawkins, director of basketball team Cheshire Jets.
The event, which will feature entertainment in keeping with the evening’s theme, will also be attended by the Jets.
Tickets cost £45 each or £495 for a table of 10, including wine, with all proceeds going towards supporting Claire House.
This will be the fourth year that the racecourse plays host to the event, raising as much as £30,000 on previous occasions.
Mr Briggs said: “I was very impressed with all I saw on my first visit to Claire House and in particular I was impressed by the obvious dedication and enthusiasm of all the staff I met during my visit.
“Despite the issues with which Claire House has to deal, it really felt like a place of happiness.”
