A CHARITY music event showcasing some of the brightest talent in the area is taking place next month.

The charity night, organised by CDS Entertainment, will be held at Great Sutton Village Hall on Thursday, September 9.

The night of live music will feature five performances by Boomin’ – winners of Rock FM’s Unsigned Band Award 2009 and Live & Unsigned Grand Finalists 2009.

Other acts include What The Funk, South For Summer, Buckle Tongue and Shy And The Fight.

CDS Entertainment promoter Stephen McMillan said: “Various youth projects take place from the venue, including a weekly youth club.

“The club provides leisure activities as well as activities providing use of several types of technology.

“Recently we have taken on board several ideas and tasks to implement into the club – one of which, is radio/recording.

“Here we are going to provide the youths with hands on experience in broadcasting, hosting and recording in a real radio station environment.

“The money raised from the night will be spent on improving the electrical, safety and audio/visual facilities for the venue.

“This would allow for us to maybe lower admission prices and observe the idea of putting the nights together more regularly.”

Regular live music events at the hall have been gaining in popularity, with more than 170 people enjoying a night in May.

Stephen added: “Our monthly gig nights allow youths access to an event of the nature and maturity normally reserved for over-18s in concert venues in bigger cities.

“The advantage of this is allowing local bands to get their kick starts, and publicity for their own material along the way.”

Doors open at 7pm, all ages welcome, bar area for over-18s (ID essential), £4 admission.
