BRIAN LITTLE has castigated his side for a below-par performance in yesterday’s 1-1 Blue Square Premier draw at Altrincham.

Only captain Tom Kearney escaped the blast from a disappointed Dragons’ boss after he kept faith with the squad of 16 players who had beaten Oxford 2-0 at the Racecourse last Thursday.

Little kept his players in their Moss Lane dressing room for nearly 30 minutes after the final whistle and emerged to say: “There’s no denying I was not very pleased with that performance and I’ve just said that to them in the dressing room.

“We started poorly, we gave a bad goal away and, although everyone was trying, it was only Tom Kearney playing, to be honest.

“He was the only one to put his foot on the ball at any time and he tried to pass it around, but I can’t explain why we were as poor as we were.”

The Dragons have a 100% home record but are now without a win in three on their travels, and Little added: “I was not disappointed with the players’ attitude, but I just think that for whatever reason we are not playing away from home in the way we play at the Racecourse.

“No-one is telling the players to change anything so we have got to get through to them to start playing away as they do at home.

“We are all bitterly disappointed. Here and at York we have not performed and I have to take the criticism and the blame.

“I’m disappointed with my players that they have put me in this position.

“There is no reason for it because they should be playing better than that. We haven’t told them to do anything different but we haven’t got a chance if only one midfield player does well.”
