CHRISTMAS is coming early to Ellesmere Port as residents are invited to get involved in a month-long celebrations.

Kickstarting December is the lights switch-on in Civic Square.

Starting at 4pm on Thursday, November 29, school children and the Port Harmony Choir will sing and light their handmade lanterns around the Christmas tree.

The Port Arcades has a host of Christmas entertainment each weekend including a Christmas Craft Weekend, December 1 and 2, Musical Theatre, December 6, The Gliding Angels, December 15 and Chrimbots Christmas Robots, December 22.

Other Christmas activities include the Santa Cruises at the National Waterways Museum, the Ellesmere Port Music Society annual carol concert at the Civic Hall on December 15 and the return of the Ice Masters in Civic Square, December 6, and Port Arcades on December 22.

The council’s Our Place team will host a free Santa’s Grotto in the market, supported by the Plus Dane Group and Ellesmere Port Lions. Local councillors will bring a free Victorian carousel on the civic square from December 13-16.

Ellesmere Port Market is running a ‘12 Days of Christmas’ competition with the chance to win £100 in Market vouchers. The draw will be on December 20.

The market also welcomes a walking dinosaur with the Jurassic Experience, December 15 and 16.
