WELSHPOOL Town bid to stage the biggest night in the club’s history at the second attempt tonight when they host Championship side Cardiff City, writes John Bridgwater.

Last week’s quarter-final clash fell victim to the weather, but Lilywhites officials hope the game will go ahead tonight.

A bumper crowd is anticipated at Maesydre, with Pool already guaranteed £15,000 for reaching the last eight but should they make the semi-final that will rise to £25,000.

”It’s going to be a fantastic night for everyone involved with the club as we’re delighted to be taking on a Championship club at home,” said manager Tomi Morgan.

Defenders Geraint Windsor and Brett Jefferies, who would have been suspended for last Friday’s postponed Welsh Premier clash with Caersws, are eligible to play but John Keegan remains on the sidelines.

Cardiff will be keen to avoid any slip-ups having lost to eventual winners The New Saints last season.
