MEMORIES of loved ones will be lighting up a special tree at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Names are being invited for a dedicated light and inclusion in a commemorative Book of Honour, to be produced at a switch-on celebration event in the hospital grounds.

Anyone who has lost a close friend or relative, whether or not they were patients at the hospital, is invited to take part in the event, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

Those appearing in this year’s Trees of Light include Chester Male Voice Choir and The Very Revd Professor Gordon McPhate.

Donations are welcome from those making a dedication and proceeds will go towards refurbishing the counselling rooms in the Critical Care Unit.

Donations from last year’s Trees of Light helped to enhance facilities in the hospital’s Chapel of Rest.

Countess of Chester fundraising manager Kate Taylor said: “The Trees of Light is such a special appeal and gives people the chance to honour lost loved ones.”

In order for loved ones’ names to be entered into the Book of Honour before the lighting ceremony and service, applications are required by November 23.

The switching on of the Trees of Light and dedication of the Book of Honour will take place on December 5 in an evening of music, readings and refreshments.
