A dance group aimed at uniting people with physical or mental impairment has celebrated a successful first term after reuniting earlier this year.

Let’s Connect was first established almost two years ago for people across Chester and Ellesmere Port, but was forced to disband.

Thanks to support from Cheshire West and Chester Council, Arts Council England and Brio Leisure the sessions were able to begin again in April and now continue to transform lives.

Jacqueline McCormick, director of Cheshire Dance, which delivers the sessions, said: “Cheshire Dance is committed to providing a diverse and fully inclusive dance programme for all Cheshire residents and the reunion of Let’s Connect, alongside similar work in Northwich, Winsford and Nantwich, shows just how much activities of this kind are needed in our community.

“We’re very grateful for all the support we receive to continue our community programme.”

Cllr Brenda Dowding said: “The power that dance can have in transforming people’s lives is unquestionable.

“Each session is engaging and Jessica, the group leader, is very aware of all the participants’ needs and structures the sessions around them.”
