JOBLESS professionals thrown out of work by the recession are lining up to undergo an unusual career swap, according to Steve Birchall, managing director at Cheshire Falconry.

Accountants, company directors and redundant legal eagles have approached the falconry centre owner asking for training with birds of prey to forge a new career.

“The calls and letters have been increasing since the economic slowdown,” said Mr Birchall of Sandiway’s Blakemere Craft Centre.

“I guess, after the stress of a career in high finance or law, the prospect of making a living in beautiful rural surroundings, handling the proud birds of prey we have here would appeal to anybody.”
