STUDENT Katrina Gardner, 41, from Llangollen, is the first learner at Yale College, Wrexham, to receive ReAct funding, which helps people who have been made redundant.

Katrina worked as a receptionist for 12 years before losing her job and was concerned about her predicament until she learned about ReAct funding which enabled her to enrol on courses at the college to advance her skills and prepare to apply for another job.

“Yale College has made it so easy for me to get back to learning,” said Katrina, who is studying for European Computer Driving Licence, First Aid and Chartered Institute of Environmental Health in the Workplace qualifications.

Her new training will provide a fine start to her recently-acquired temporary, part-time job as a learning support assistant where she will gain practical experience alongside her studies.

Katie Jones at Yale College welcomes enquiries about training in response to redundancy and can be contacted on 01978 311794, extension 4020.
