SIR John Deane’s College was transformed into a courtroom for the day when law students held a mock ‘trial’ before the end of term.

As part of the role play, budding legal eagles dressed up as barristers, witnesses and a defendant to play out a courtroom drama based around a theft.

Jan Houghton, head of law at SJD, said: “The students had three weeks to prepare for the trial in teams, then perform on the day.

“We hijacked other classes to be members of the jury, so it enabled students across the college to be part of the event. We also opened the court up and had a public gallery as they do in real courts.”

Former SJD law students Abi Hensby, Rob Sharnock, Clare Smalley and Sophie Wiggans returned to the college as judges.
