POP star Laura Critchley had two reasons to celebrate the MTV Music Awards in Liverpool.

Not only was the 24-year-old Little Sutton singer a VIP guest at the prestigious international awards show on Thursday but she was also filmed by local TV.

Laura explained: “The BBC’s North West Tonight ran a feature on me, which was screened on Friday.

“They filmed me from 4.30pm getting ready for the awards, and then all throughout the night getting a local artist’s perspective on the event.”

Meanwhile, Laura hit the headlines when the Sunday Mirror pointed out that the internationally-famous band Coldplay’s latest music video was very similar to the video for Laura’s single Sometimes I video.

She said: “I suppose imitation is a form of flattery.”

Her music is being used for the introduction and ending to a new series called Glamour Puds being broadcast nightly on the Discovery Channel.

The programme stars Eric Lanlard, so-called “cake maker to the stars”, who travels to Ireland, France and throughout the UK to demonstrate the indulgent art of dessert and cake making.

Earlier this month, Laura performed for the Duchess of York’s annual Children In Crisis fundraising dinner.

The songstress added: “It was a great honour to share the bill with Destiny’s Child’s Kelly Rowland.”
