AN ELLESMERE Port newsagents and off licence put in a bid to sell drink round the clock.
The application was made at the Rossmore Express Rossmore Road West by Ranvir Bains of Moseley, Birmingham.
Licensing councillors heard the shop had licensed hours of 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 8pm on Sunday.
Councillors were told the premises had run without difficulty since the licence was granted. They are monitored by 16 CCTV cameras and have not been linked with any public nuisance.
Environmental protection officers objected and pointed out there are homes in adjoining flats and houses within 20m. They felt there was the potential for serious disturbance when families might be trying to sleep. Councillors agreed there should be no sales after 11pm seven days a week.
