Caersws 3 Cwmbran Town 3

FRUSTRATED Caersws allowed more points to slip through their grasp after being denied a much-needed win by a last-gasp strike from Jodie Jenkins.

The Bluebirds had their chances to have sealed the win, but were caught three minutes into injury time when a free kick was flicked on to Jenkins who cut inside his marker before coolly converting.

Manager Mickey Evans said: “We should have had the game wrapped up, our general play deserved the three points.”

Cwmbran, with a distinct height advantage, had gone ahead through Steve Loverso on eight minutes following some hesitation from keeper Andy Mulliner.

But Caersws were back on terms following an excellent move as Graham Evans dispatched his shot past Gareth Wesson from the edge of the box following a Graham Jones cross.

Colin Reynolds then put the hosts ahead on the half hour, with the defender nodding home after the ball had been turned onto the bar following a Ross Stephens free kick.

The lead was short-lived as Jenkins struck his first but the hosts carved out enough goalmouth skirmishes to suggest they could restore their advantage.

And they went ahead five minutes after the break when Stephens coolly converted a penalty after Chris Venables had been brought down in the box.

Evans and Geraint Lewis were both denied by goal-line clearances, Lloyd Grist and Stephens also went close but Cwmbran survived before snatching a last-gasp leveller.

The second half was not without its controversy with visiting manager Sean Warton being sent to the stand, while Dale Raven, who had earlier been substituted, was also red-carded on the sidelines.
